When you buy a tool from the Fantasy Map Market, such as a map icon or brush pack, then it gives you a license to use that tool to create an end product. The ownership and copyright of the tool still stays with Nate Smith trading as the Fantasy Map Market.
There are a few conditions to the use of tools bought from the Fantasy Map Market. These conditions are designed to prevent abuse of our tools.
Use in an end product
An end product includes something you have created that can use the tools from this site. For example a map or a book cover.
But, it can’t be something where the result of a tool is the only value in the end product. For example an icon used on a t-shirt or mug through a print on demand service.
You can sell that end product to a client. A client is defined as an individual or organisation who has specifically commissioned you to create an end product for them.
However, the end product must be delivered in a flattened format so the user cannot get to the tool and reuse it.
Acceptable use: A high resolution jpg or png of a map that uses an icon from the Fantasy Map Market.
Not acceptable use: A layered Photoshop file (PSD) of a map including icons from the Fantasy Map Market.
Not for stock resale
The tools on this site can’t be used to create a stock library that is then sold (either as a whole or individually). The sale of an end product must be to a single client who has commissioned you to do the work – for example hired you to draw a map for their novel.
One goal of this site is to create tools for the skilled cartographers out there who are making beautifully crafted maps for other artists, writers or the worldbuilding community. Not for people to create stock maps that can be sold many times over.
Tools by other creators
Please note the above tool license relates to all tools created by Nate Smith.
From time to time I may sell tools or tools by other creators. Please see the product description for links to their own license.
